![]() ![]() Here there are enough around to satisfy (Well, somewhat) both camps, in Poland maybe not so much. Some collectors view this rework as part of the history and are OK with it, others only want an untouched example. ![]() On this side of the pond the CMP has been selling these by the bucket load with (aledgely) more on the way, many (if not most) have had some sort of rework done to them in their long careers. So, could you give me some more detailed info about that pistol?ĭepends on how knowledgeable your seller is and how much interest he has in this pistol.Īs you stated, these are somewhat rare in Poland, so that will add a premium to the price right from the start. I'd like to have a 1911A1 but in Poland they are quite rare and expensive and the knowledge about producers, serial numbers, variations and features of 1911A1 is limited. So the "collection value" is much less than the original, not mixed, rebuilt or altered gun? Found on the receivers of guns rebuilt or inspected at the arsenal".ĭoes it suggest the this particular pistol is in fact a rebuilt one, with put together Colt frame and Remington Rand slide? Next to the slide stop there is "AA" marking which is interpreted as " Augusta Arsenal. The frame serial number is No 1178507 and according to 1911/1911A1 Production Numbers site that frame should have been manufactured by Colt within the serial number block for the year 1944. It is advertised as Remington Rand 1943 with "almost new" HS barrel. My quick internet study tells me that there are some doubts, that's why I want to ask you some questions about that gun. Conditions and prices on the Polish market are quite different than in the US so I'm not asking about the fair price range for that pistol ( by the way the asking price here is 2100 $ ) but I'd like to ask if at least description provided by the seller is right. I'd like to ask for an assistance in assessment of let's say "collection" or authenticity value of 1911A1 offered for sale in Poland. ![]()
